Review: Mojjo Sky Bar and Lounge

The hip Mojjo can be found on the 32nd floor of the Skyview Hotel Bangkok at Sukhumvit Soi 24. This beautiful accommodation is located in the modern EM District where you can be at Phrom Phong BTS (Sky Train) Station in less than five minutes. Because of its good location, Mojjo Rooftop Lounge & Bar can be easily combined with a visit to the two mega luxury shopping malls Emporium and EmQuartier. These are located opposite Phrom Phong Station. For some peace and quiet before you head to the MOJJO bustle, you can go to Benjasiri Park. This park is only a few minutes walk away.

Once welcomed by the amiable staff at the door of the hotel, walk through the lobby to the elevators. Here there is even a special elevator that goes to Mojjo Rooftop Lounge & Bar in 1 time. After you walk out of the elevator, the fashionable designer tiles of the floor immediately catch your eye. You find yourself in front of the “reception” where you are asked if you have made a reservation. We recommend you do this in advance as Mojjo often has no room left without a reservation.

Both inside and outside, guests can sit at stylish tables that have an old-fashioned look. The furniture looks like it came from an old movie about Cuba or another South American country. From reclining armchairs to standing tables with comfortable stools, Mojjo has about 140 seats. Inside, there are about 40 seats, some of which offer beautiful views of the Bangkok skyline. We ourselves had a view of EmQuartier, an upscale shopping mall that we visited regularly to enjoy strolling through.

Before you walk up to the terrace at Mojjo Rooftop Lounge & Bar, you come out at the large bar. Here the mixologists of Mojjo prepare delicious cocktails for the guests. Outside, guests can take place at various types of (standing) tables. At the edge you have the best view over the city, amazing! Outside is the maximum capacity of 100 seats, so reserve your spot outside if the weather permits. Despite the idea of giving Mojjo Rooftop Lounge & Bar a Cuban theme, we personally find it rather broad. We prefer to call it South American oriented where the atmosphere feels warm and cozy. The staff is extremely friendly and that certainly adds to the atmosphere!

The times we visited Mojjo Rooftop Lounge & Bar we heard relaxed electronic music, but no South American or Cuban beats. Maybe that was just us and we should just visit more often haha. One small downside was that the music was pretty loud early on. Our tip, save the louder volume for later in the evening and build up the party. Of course it is nice that a DJ plays regularly!

This is what we came for, and this is what we will definitely come back for. Many sky bars in Bangkok offer great views of the city. The one thing where Mojjo Rooftop Lounge & Bar makes a difference is the food. All the dishes we ate here were all sublime! In fact, the food was so good that we went to eat at Mojjo several times. Our last evening before leaving for the Netherlands we ended our 2022 Thailand trip here with good friends and their children, and how! Everyone feasted on the exquisite dishes that were placed on our table.

We love it when dishes can be shared, like the Thai do haha. Therefore, we ordered several portions of Mojjo Fries, crispy fries including three dips of corn and beans among others. Do you want mayonnaise or ketchup with it? Just ask and the cool team at Mojjo will take care of it.

Of course the Mixed Grill could not be left out. Three portions for a group of seven please! The Mixed Grill at Mojjo Rooftop Lounge & Bar consisted of a skewer of tender Wagyu Flank Steak, a huge Jerk Rib falling off the bone and about four juicy slightly spicy sausages. Accompanying it were a well-seasoned corn on the cob and grilled jalapenos. There was actually so much more we wanted to taste/share… How about the Peruana de Mexico with some delicious bestsellers from Mexican cuisine. We’ll order these next time, because in our case we had just enough room left to try the Beef Tacos. A soft taco with tender thinly sliced Wagyu topped with a slightly spicy sauce and fried chili peppers. Hot Hot Hot! You can leave the chilies off of course or ask the friendly staff to make the tacos a little less spicy).

Finally, a strong espresso or creamy cocktail with churros and chocolate sauce, what a combination! Churros are mostly known in Spain and South America, despite the fact that this crispy fried snack is starting to conquer more and more of the world. Churros are crispy on the outside and deliciously chewy on the inside, these deep-fried dough snacks are sprinkled with (powdered) sugar and/or cinnamon sugar. Don’t forget to dip the Churro in the hot chocolate sauce. Muy sabroso (very tasty)!

There is no shortage of good cocktails at Mojjo Rooftop Lounge & Bar! Because we slept in the hotel it was easy for us to order a cocktail on the roof terrace of Mojjo at the end of our long day. Just a relaxed review of our day. What did we see and experience, what are we going to write about and which delicious cocktail should we order from the cocktail menu…

The following signatures got our attention and we ordered them. The Baya de Cafe, a cocktail in which blueberries and Kahlua (coffee liqueur) go hand in hand, nice for after dinner at Mojjo! The Puesta del Sol came up several times…. We didn’t know that rum (Flor de Cana) paired with the Aperol tasted so much like more…. Finally, our favorite, the Maracuja. A fresh-sweet cocktail with pineapple, lime and passion fruit. These fruity flavors pair well with a quality Pyrat XO rum!

In addition to cocktails, you can of course also order many different kinds of whiskey, rum, gin, vodka and wines. Prefer not to drink alcohol? Besides soft drinks and fruit shakes, there are also a number of tasty mocktails available such as the Tea Time or Mango Mule. The Tea Time is made with a syrup of earl gray, ginger ale and three kinds of fruit juice. The Mango Mule consists, how could it be otherwise, of mango puree and ingredients like lime, cucumber and ginger beer.
