Hua Hin Restaurant Reviews

Dining out in Hua Hin means enjoying a great meal in an idyllic atmosphere, rather than indulging in a fine-dining experience (although there are more and more high end options available). For many holidaymakers, seafood is the main reason to embark on a weekend trip to Hua Hin, and they are absolutely right. So, our best advice when it comes to dining in Hua Hin is to follow where they go. This means most meals will take advantage of the bountiful seafood offerings available at the best restaurants in Hua Hin, and at much cheaper prices than you will find in Bangkok or Phuket. There is no more enjoyable dining experience in Hua Hin than eating freshly caught ocean treasures while looking out to sea on a breezy, balmy evening.
You Yen Hua Hin Balcony
Fronting the sea and surrounded by a landscaped garden, this seafood restaurant gives you a glimpse into the Hua Hin of yesteryear. The restaurant is set in an elegant, restored wooden Thai house, built in 1920s, with a sweeping beachfront that doubles as an al fresco dining area. You Yen Hua Hin Balcony’s menu focuses on regional Thai dishes, with a selection of traditional snacks as well as fiery tom yam and Thai salads.
Beach Society combines ocean views with a modern menu of signature creations. The international dishes are all made with the freshest Thai ingredients, and surrounded by SO Sofitel Hua Hin's beachfront, there are few cooler places to dine. This is certainly more on the side of western comfort food than haute cuisine, but when you are just a few metres from the lapping shore of Cha-Am it fits perfectly. The squid with polenta, mushroom and sundried tomato is a must try, as is the rich choco-lava cake for dessert.
Close to the fishing pier, overlooking the Gulf of Thailand, this casual eatery serves up great Thai-style seafood dishes. The open kitchen and tanks containing live fish and shell fish are on the ground floor, while the upper level houses a large, semi-outdoor seating area. Baked scallops in garlic butter sauce, crab curry, deep-fried Indo-Pacific mackerel in fish sauce and tom yam seafood are highly recommended.
Hua Hin has plenty of Italian restaurants to choose from, but for our money, Andreas Italian Restaurant and Grill is the finest in town. Classic yet cool, you can enjoy a pasta and pizza here or go for a full evening of pan-seared foie gras, antipasti, Australian tenderloin steak and fine Italian wine. Choose to dine in the smart inside dining room or out on the second floor terrace, which is romantic despite the lack of sea views. Open for dinner only.
Hua Hin is renowned for colonial luxury and nowhere is this better experienced than at this charming restaurant at Centara grand Beach Resort Hua Hin. Featuring a menu of Thai and international favourites, you can dine here for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a fancy afternoon tea option for those inclined. On weekends The Railway Restaurant has a luxury buffet menu to enjoy. The service and layout of the restaurant is one of the nicest in Hua Hin too.
Located on the main Beach stretch, close to Hilton Hua Hin, this Thai-French restaurant features an extensive selection seafood, grilled meat, steaks as well as beers, wines and cocktails on its menu. Each dish is prepared with the freshest ingredients and organic produce. Seating areas occupy two levels and feature Thai art on the walls. The street-level has a more elaborate atmosphere, with high ceilings, stained glasses and wood accents. Open for dinner only.
Part of the chic al fresco resort of the same name, Let’s Sea Pub & Restaurant wows its patrons with sweeping ocean views, an absolute chill ambience and a menu that fuses contemporary Thai and international flavours. Think soft shell crab som tam, sautéed big clams with white wine sauce and rock lobster gratin. The attached Breeze Bar offers a creative drinks menu, including five variations of martini, cocktails and mocktails. Open for all day dining: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
If you visit Pranburi, this beachfront eatery just south of the main Pranburi intersection is not to be missed. The menu features regional Thai and seafood dishes, whipped up from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Most notable is the robust flavour of the sauces, as each dish is richly seasoned with local herbs and spices. Try grilled tiger prawns, stir-fried clams in thick chili sauce, deep-fried fish cake and fish som tam.
Oceanside is like a little taste of Miami or Ibiza in sleepy old Hua Hin. This beach club has a menu of fancy world delicacies such as oysters, wagyu beef, tuna tartare and foie gras, all accompanied by a cool crowd enjoying the live DJ playing lounge house. It’s not typically Hua Hin in concept but we are happy for the option of something more modern. It is among the priciest places to dine in Hua Hin but the quality food and beachfront setting reflect the price. Located along the sand at Putahrasca Hua Hin Resort.
Hin Lek Fai Restaurant is located on the outskirts of Hua Hin, surrounded by flowering plants and vegetable gardens. The menu covers a host of European and Asian dishes, the cost is very reasonable but it’s the natural ambiance that brings Thai families into the hills above Hua Hin town to enjoy a relaxed dinner. The restaurant is not far from Khao Hin Lek Fai Viewpoint and costs around 400 baht for a tuk-tuk if you don’t have your own transport. Due to the small and intimate setting, reservations are necessary.
