The breakthrough of the food delivery trend was followed closely by the increasing popularity of grocery delivery apps. Many supermarkets now have their own online platforms or have partnered up with delivery apps, allowing us to stock up on food and necessities from the comfort of our own homes. It’s undoubtedly convenient (no need to queue in line), especially when going out these days is a bit of a challenge. With these applications, you can load up on bread, produce, laundry detergent and other essentials with a simple tap of your fingertips.

Local Food Delivery Services within Bangkok
    Thailand Food Apps

The food delivery scene in Bangkok has grown at an impressive rate over the last year. While more people appreciate the convenience of having food delivered (blame it on our laziness), many also feel that, due to the ongoing health crisis, going outside can be tricky and unsafe. We continue to see the release of food delivery apps, one after the other, with each one trying to attract more users through great promotions, a good selection of partner restaurants and even grocery delivery services. With all of these apps being launched, some of us may find it hard to keep up. This list will help you get your head around all the choices. Take a look and see which one suits your preferences the most.

    Gojek
Previously known as Get, Gojeck is the newest food delivery service on our list. Founded in 2019, they only operate in Bangkok at present – a downfall for those outside the city. Ordering with Gojeck is simple, consisting of a few basic clicks to secure your meal. They serve a broad range of restaurants, with lots of local joints found exclusively on their app. However, as they are relatively new, the majority of their menus are in Thai which doesn’t cater well to English speaking customers. Similar to Lineman and Grab, they assign a driver to every order and users can reach them on the app the entire process. While delivery times vary per restaurant, they aim to complete purchases within 15 to 40 minutes. Furthermore, fees for their services are based mostly on distance and thus differ per venue as well. Finally, delivery is restricted to a 25-kilometre radius but they do offer a free delivery voucher for new users – an added bonus.
    • Service Coverage:
      Bangkok.
    • Delivery from:
Free within a distance of 6 km.
    • Payment Methods:
      Cash on delivery (COD)

    Happy Fresh Food Delivery Service
Happy Fresh delivers groceries from supermarkets straight to your home. Customers can purchase everyday produce, ingredients and household items from big-name brands such as Tesco Lotus and Big C. Alongside these, users can also browse speciality stores on their app based on location. Some examples include Gourmet Market, Harrison Butchers and Imported Korean Goods. Users can shop on Happy Fresh at any time of the day. However, while deliveries can be scheduled, orders are fulfilled within the opening times of the stores (typically 9:00 to 22:00). Despite this, delivery is quick and affordable at only 66 Baht within a 5-kilometre radius. Furthermore, their app is straightforward to use. After making an order, personal shoppers handpick groceries, keeping you informed as they go along on a chat system. This is especially handy as when products are out of stock, shoppers will suggest substitutes which the customer can then agree or decline. Even though you are unable to see the quality of the produce in person, overall, it is a convenient option for those who love to cook at home but perhaps don’t have the time to grocery shop themselves.
    • Service Coverage:
Currently serve most areas of Bangkok and some in Greater Bangkok.
    • Delivery from:
      66 THB within a 5 km radius.
    • Payment Methods:
      COD, E-Wallet (TrueMoney), Credit Card.

This one is quite underrated, but has gradually gained popularity and great reviews from users. You might discover new eats from this app, too.

Kerry joins forces with Grab to introduce two new delivery services in Bangkok

Just in time for an influx of deliveries for Valentine’s Day, two delivery giants in Thailand joined forces to launch two new pick-up services in the Greater Bangkok area: instant pick-up and express pick-up. Kerry Express, the top delivery service in Thailand, and Grab Thailand have teamed up for the services. Items can be picked up by a Grab driver within 30 minutes for instant pick-up and parcel collection can be scheduled with a Grab driver every hour for express pick-up.

These new services will be trialled in the main Bangkok area for clients who have already packed their parcels and need them delivered right away by choosing the instant pick-up option on the Kerry Express app. According to Alex Ng, CEO of Kerry Express, many customers used a delivery service to ship items to Kerry Express stores in the past to avoid traffic and travel expenses, as well as time limitations.

“To fill this gap, Kerry Express developed door-to-door instant pick-up and express pick-up… By joining forces with Grab Thailand, whose strength lies in its driver base and fast deliveries, Kerry will be able to meet changing customer demands in a timely fashion.”
The CEO also added that the company expects the user base to grow from thousands to 100,000 from February onwards, and this collaboration takes advantage of the existing resources and does not incur any additional costs, thanks to the track record in cost management.

According to Alejandro Osorio, country head of Grab (Thailand), the agreement should shake up the business as the combination of Kerry’s nationwide network of service shops and Grab’s hundreds of thousands of drivers operating throughout the country should prove to be a game-changer.

“Grab believes these synergies for the instant parcel pick-up services in the greater Bangkok area will help create a better experience for Kerry’s customers, who will relish convenient and rapid service at an affordable price.”
