    Bangkok is undoubtedly a vibrant city that has many things to do and see. However, if you are looking to get away for a peaceful picnic, the capital has a number of parks that provide a relaxing atmosphere.

    Chatuchak Park
    This beautiful park is next to the famous Chatuchak Market, making it convenient to lay down a blanket and relax before or after shopping. With several playgrounds, bridges, walking trails, and a lake, it is ideal for families. Moreover, the park is quite busy on the weekends, with food stalls galore, so you don’t have to prepare a picnic lunch if you don’t wish. The park vendors also sell folding mats in case you decide to relax in the park on a whim.

    Lumpini Park
    This park is comparable to a New York City park. As it is located in the heart of Bangkok, it provides the metro with a place to escape from the bustling, surrounding scenery. Moreover, it is one of the oldest and largest parks in the city, with plenty of space to have a relaxing picnic or nap. Additionally, the park is also known for its monitor lizards, so you may get a surprising experience while visiting. Complete with a lake and bridge, the park is great for families who want to relax without having to travel far from the city.

    Rama IX Park
    As one of the most beautiful parks in Bangkok, this park offers a view of the Chao Phraya River and plenty of space to relax or play a bit of volleyball with friends. As it is the largest park in the capital, it is best to visit multiple areas on different days to fully appreciate its expansive beauty. Moreover, manicured lawns and beautiful flowers grace the park’s surroundings. At night, you can join a public aerobics class which provides a great communal experience with the backdrop of local Thai hip hop music.

    Bang Krachao Park
    This weekend getaway is a great place to spend a day having picnic. Located in the Phra Pradaeng province of Bangkok, it is definitely quieter as it lacks hoards of tourists. The Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park and Botanical Garden are the park’s best features. Moreover, the park is decorated with bridges, gazebos, and bridges, it is a delightful experience to relax here. The island also features the Bang Namphueng Floating Market, which is lined with cheap but amazing Thai food.

    Benjasiri Park
    If you are near Sukhumvit Road, the expat hub of Bangkok, you can easily walk to Benjasiri Park. Here, visitors can escape the chaos of the busy area by enjoying the 11-acre park. Moreover, you can also take advantage of the park’s exercise equipment, basketball courts and more. Kids can enjoy the playgrounds at the park, making it great place for families. Art lovers will also love the various displays around the park. Furthermore, with all the park has to offer, you can opt to have a picnic while taking in the surrounding scenery.
