And, as an added bonus, Koh Samet is a very dry island. The corner of Thailand covering Pattaya and Rayong receives very little annual rainfall. Meaning that visitors are almost certain to have plenty of sunshine regardless of when they visit. If you want a break from city life in Pattaya and Bangkok, and islands such as Koh Chang, Koh Kood or Koh Mak are too far for a short break, then Koh Samet. is well worth visiting. Getting around
There are a number of small ferries that run between the two piers Nuan Thip and Ban Phe on the mainland to Koh Samets different beaches. Nuan Thip pier and Ban Phe pier is just a few hundred metres between each other and the bus stop is about halfway between. It thus plays less of a role from which pier you leave or arrive at when you are going back to the mainland. The trip to Koh Samet with the ferry takes between 30-45 minutes. We recommend that you buy a single ticket for the ferry ride because you never get a discount if you buy a roundtrip ticket and you don't have to worry to lose his ticket or find out too late that even the ticket is invalid for a particular ferry (ferry) when to return. Piers called Ban Phe and Nuan Thip and they located a few hundred metres away from each other. From these piers are regular different ferries to several beaches on Koh Samet (see the section on the ferry above) From Bangkok to Ban Phe, buses leave Ekamai from 07.00 (04.40 on Mon. only) till 20.30, each 40 min. From Ban Phe to Bangkok, first bus from 04.00 and last bus 17.30. each 1 hour. Price 170 THВ. Buses from Bangkok bus terminal "Mo Chit Bus Terminal" to Koh Samet are no direct link to Ban Phe pier. However, you can take a bus to Rayong for a low money and then take songthaew (taxi) for about 30 THB to Ban Phe pier, which is located only few kilometres away.

Shuttle Service between Koh Chang and Koh Samet
There are buses from Ban Phe every hour until 20:00 directly to Ao Thammachat ferry terminal at Trat, the mainland inside the Koh Chang. The ticket you buy easily on the bus station at Ban Phe pier and it costs about 300 THB. The trip down to Koh Chang takes about 3 hours. The reverse applies if you are travelling by bus from Ko Chang to Koh Samet.
Shuttle Service between Pattaya and Koh Samet
From Pattaya get to Koh Samet very easy. Buy a tour to one way. Price 200 THB, 150 THB Minivan + 50 THB Ferry + ticket for enterin Koh Samet (as national park). Usually from Pattaya you will get to the beach Ao Wong Duen. There are regular buses between Ban Phe pier bus station and the Pattaya bus station. It runs daily every hour until 20:00. The price is around 120 THB. Thus, it is no problem to smooth the way between Pattaya and Koh Samet
Car and Driver
Thailand usually have a good and extensive road network, and this also applies to the route Bangkok - Koh Samet. All you need to do if you are driving a rental car from Bangkok to Koh Samet is to run the Sukhumvit highway Rd (Highway No. 3) moreover, in the past Chonburi, Si Racha, Pattaya, Sattahip and towards Rayong. The route Bangkok - Rayong is 220 km. Watch out for the police on this route only, they like to stop motorists for no reason on their "police checkpoint". No danger, however, but it just takes time unnecessarily. Expect it to take quite exactly 2 hours to run the route with the car. When you get to the ferry port of Ban Phe, so there is plenty of parking, even long term, at a reasonable cost, where you can set the car during your stay in Koh Samet.
Mini Van Transportation
Minivan between Bangkok and Koh Samet It running constantly mini-van from Victory Monument in Bangkok's Phahonyothin district, directly to the Ban Phe pier. It costs about 300 THB and they drive you right up to the pier. Minivan driving faster than the buses, and you will, therefore, present in about 2.5 hours, the problem is that they often stop a number of times in Rayong, just before the pier so the total travel time is approximately the same. If you have bad luck, they can also pack minivanen quite full with people so it can get crowded.
Speed Boats

Speedboat prices can vary between 600 THB to get to Na Dan pier on Koh Samet (diamond beach) up to a few thousand Baht to get to the southern part of Koh Samet. It is fast but also costs a bit more.

In late 2017 a new, high speed ‘Khokaew Phitsadan’ catamaran service was launched between Ban Phe and Koh Samet. This combines the speed of a speedboat, just a 10 minute journey, with the safety of a large, modern boat. Unless price is a serious issue, then this boat service is currently the best way to get to the island. There are regular sailings throughout the day from early morning to late afternoon. Ticket price is 150 Baht per person one way. The ticket office is located roadside opposite the police station near Tarua Phe pier.
