The Sala Dan Pier On Koh Lanta

The ferry departs from Saladan pier in Saladan Village, this is the northern tip of Koh Lanta. Saladan has a small inlet of the sea which allows the ferries to conveniently dock. Saladan pier is quite small and there is nothing of interest on the actual pier. After you check in its a straight walkway of 30 metres to the boats. In front of the pier there are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, convenience shops selling drinks, a bank of ATMs and also one block of public toilets. Many hotels on Koh Lanta offer a free shuttle service to the pier. Some may also charge a small fee depending on the hotel and location. Koh Lanta is a big island – journey times to the pier can range from 20 minutes to 1 hour depending on how far your hotel is from Saladan. Let your hotel receptionist know you want to go to Saladan pier and what time your boat departs – they will arrange a transfer for you.

Ao Nang - Koh Lanta - Ao Nang | with Transfer Options

Where Is Saladan Pier On Koh Lanta?

Although the ferry transfer is the most popular way it is limited to only pick up and drop off each day. You would have to make your own way to the pier and to your Ao Nang hotel. The ferry can also be quite crowded in the Peak season. If you prefer a door to door service there are 3 other options to choose from too.
    • Koh Lanta to Ao Nang Express Transfer
The Express combines an open back car pick up to Saladan pier to connect with the 12:30 speedboat. The speedboat ride misses any queue time at the car ferry, a waiting minivan taxi to take you to your hotel. Only operates during high season: November to April.
    • Koh Lanta to Ao Nang Private Taxi Transfer
You choose any time that suits you best. A great option for families or groups of friends traveling together wanting more space to relax. Operates all year round.
    • Koh Lanta to Ao Nang to Public Van
This is a cheap option but it does have some drawbacks. They pack in customers and luggage which makes travelling very cramped and sometimes make stops along the way to drop off parcels. The drivers can sometimes go uncomfortably fast. Departs every hour from 06:00 to 15:00.

      Krabi Town - Koh Lanta

The provincial capital Krabi Town in Thailand is with about 30,000 inhabitants one of the larger cities in the tourism region of Krabi. Famous for its authentic flair, Krabi Town is a popular stop for backpackers and individual travelers who are looking to discover Thailand’s highlights on their own. Here you will stroll through traditional markets, explore caves, visit small temples and enjoy an incredibly idyllic setting right on the Krabi River. Accommodations in Krabi Town are good and cheap, another reason why many long-term travelers appreciate this city so much. In addition, the town is also a perfect starting point for awesome activities and excursions. Krabi Airport is located approximately 13 kilometers northeast of Krabi Town. Cheap flights from Bangkok to Krabi can be found online for example at Skyscanner. From the airport to Krabi town you will have to take either a taxi for 800 baht or the bus, which costs about 150 baht. The nearest ferry terminal, Klong Jilad Pier, is about 4 kilometers south of Krabi Town. From here you can continue to Phuket, Koh Lanta, Koh Lipe and Koh Phi Phi.

If you are staying in Ao Nang, then you should definitely visit Krabi Town for a day- or half day trip. Many visitors connect sightseeing with a visit to the famous night market. The cheapest way to get from Krabi Town to Ao Nang or from Ao Nang to Krabi Town is with the Songthaew, the red shared taxis. The ride on these local busses costs 50 THB per person and takes about 30 minutes. There are no fixed travel times, because Songthaews leave as soon as they are full. If you prefer a normal air-conditioned taxi, you can expect to pay around 300 THB fare. Of course, you can rent a scooter and drive on your own from Ao Nang to Krabi Town.
